Dunham Garden Winters Library @ 57 West Franklin Street |
|
The Dunhan Garden was dedicated in 1999 as a memorial to Jeanette Dunham. This area is centered by a stone patio and surrounded by some of Jeanette’s own perennials. Donations of plants from various members of the club complete the garden. The patio and bench and several plantings were provided by the City of Bellbrook to add to the enjoyment of library visitors. A longtime Bellbrook resident and Bellbrook Garden Member, Jeanette served on the Greene County Library Board. The garden was made possible by gifts from her family to the Bellbrook Garden Club. |

This Garden was dedicated in 2006 to honor long-time Bellbrook residents Harry & Jean Butler and Genevieve Klyce. It is primarily a shade garden using perennials from both of their gardens, plus native flowering shrubs. A historic stone bench donated by Genevieve Klyce centers the garden. Native stone from the area has been used for accent. Harry was a well-known area horticulturist. He combined this interest with a distinguished career in radio in the Dayton area. His wife, Jean, was a talented watercolorist and naturalist. Both were Life Members of the Bellbrook Garden Club. Genevieve Klyce was a long-time teacher in the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek School system. She was also a member of the Bellbrook Garden Club for over 50 years. |

Wright Iris Garden Bellbrook Historical Museum @ 42 North Main Street |
|
The iris in this garden were a gift from Mrs. Sue Wright, a lifetime Bellbrook Garden Club member. They were given in memory of her husband, Horace Wright, who was a nephew of Orville & Wilber Wright. One variety, “The Wright Flyer”, was named in honor of their historical first flight. The Wrights met and married in 1924 and spent 30 years cultivating iris on their Spahr Rd. farm. Sue was a teacher in the Bellbrook-Sugarcreek School system for many years. Horace was a hybridizer of iris. He specialized in rebloomers, which bloom both spring and fall. Dedicated in 1996 & renovated in 2009, the garden is circular in design and bordered by local creek stone. A large rock from the Bumgardner House, constructed 1842, is the focal point. Peonies from the garden of Horace’s parents, Ivonette and Lorin Wright, and some of their favorite daylilies are included in this garden. |
